Dr. Maria Savanović

Dr. Maria Savanović (maiden Uzelac) was born in Vrbas on August 30, 1992. She finished “Petar Petrović Njegoš” elementary and “Žarko Zrenjanin” high school in Vrbas with Vuk’s diploma from both schools. She graduated basic and master’s academic studies in chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Environmental Protection, Faculty of Science, University of Novi Sad. She is a researcher in the field of analytical chemistry and advanced oxidation processes. She is closely focused on studying the stability of pharmaceutically and pesticide active compounds and the removal of the present compounds in the environment, using hydrolysis, photolysis, and photocatalysis using different catalysts.

  • Third place at the “International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability” ISCES, Shanghai, China. She was the leader of the MAM game time team (2022).
  • Best paper award at the international conference “International Conference on Energy, Water & Environment”, ICEWE-21, Lahore, Pakistan (2021).
  • Prize for the best poster presentation at the “Meeting Point of the Science and Practice in the Fields of Corrosion, Materials and Environmental Protection”, XXI YuCorr, Tara Mountain, Serbia (2019).
  • Special award from the Serbian Chemical Society for outstanding results during the studies at Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad (2015).
  • Faculty and University awards for outstanding results during studies (2012, 2013, 2014) and award for completed studies (2015).
  • Special award for outstanding students, Vrbas municipality (2012).
